second hard drive in laptop

    second hard drive in laptop

    Can anyone help?
    I have just fitted a second hard drive into my Toshiba laptop, but I cannot find it in "my computer"
    I can find it device manager but no where else.

    have you activated it in disc manager.

      Make sure it's assigned a drive letter and formatted correctly.

          control panel/adninistrative tools/computer managment/ down the left side of the box that opens you will see disk managment this will list all hd on your pc,you will need to right click on your new drive to activate it then format once this is finished it will assign a drive letter and you will then see it in my computer.

            Now in disk management, I have disk 0 (C) & Disk 1 (new hard drive)

            Disk 1 shows
            Basic
            297.97 GB
            Online

            when I right click there is no option to format, please help.
