windows 7 issue

Hi all.
Looking for some help, I installed windows 7 on my hp compaq nx7010 laptop. Install was clean & no problems. The problem i am having now is that the machine will not play dvd's & windows aero will not work. The computer is looking to update the video card but i cannot find an update to use with W 7.
The dvd used to work when my OS was Windows XP.
i think my video card is an ATI Mobility radeon 9200.

have you tried to get drivers Graphics Drivers & Software although win 7 should have it

If your model uses the Radeon 9200 M graphics then it wont get AERO features because you need a DirectX 9 or above graphics chip for AERO features to work... mobility Radeon 9200 models are DirectX 8

Its a card hardware thing mate... graphics cards are made with a DirectX compadability for that time its manufactured... even with the newest DX software installed the card is only running in DX8 mode and even though its still works it wont work later DX software features

Games are a good example... a DX9 game will be missing DX9 features cos your card cant produce them... but will still play the game in DX8 mode without the more advanced features of a DX9 card like better water effects/smoke/HDR/advanced lighting.. and other things

dvd drive will need a firmware update to run on 7
