How do I install a second o.s on partition

I have created a paetition on my lap top but cant figure out how to install a second operating system on the partition, any help would be appreciated.
Primary partition has XP PRO, I want to install xp pro on partition & then use upgrade disk's to install VISTA & then WINDOWS 7

Do I need a new boot manager, I cannot see the partition in the BIOS, only the name of the hard drive.

first off its a bad idea to more than one os on the same hard drive .but if ya gonna do it anyway here's example if you had 100 gig drive you have to repartition the drive example 30gig xp 30gig vista 30 gig win7 this is best done on a fresh install of xp i.e. treat the drive like it is brand new .xp has got to be the first os installed once intalled make second primary partition call it vista and format it reboot make sure bios is set to boot from cd and away you go .

To install to the second created partition, I would boot from the cd, follow the install wizard and choose the correct partition to install. Windows should sort out the boot manager, (did for me on a duel boot vista & XP machine).

Windows only supports 4 partitions on a disk before converting them all into Virtual Drives. If your laptop has any hidden partitions (for re-installing the original OS) these count as part of the allocation. I attempted to install a Linux distro on my laptop but this failed as I already had 4 partitions ( C:/ , D:/ , OS Hidden and finally Utility hidden). So the best is to start off with a completely virgin drive and install XP first.

I have found easy bcd a very good boot manager and easy to use . You can change boot sector even after installing xp after vista or 7

If you put xp on first then vista or 7 then the xp bootloader will be overwritten by the other OS and will give you the option of what OS you want to load when you turn your pc on, if you put xp on last then the xp bootloader will overwrite the vista or 7 bootloader and it will only boot up in xp when you turn your pc on, thats fine but you would then need to get easyBCD to put the vista/7 bootloader back on and then it will ask you which OS when you turn pc on

Simple terms put xp on first.

If you have created the partition already and correctly, stick vista/7 disc in and re-boot making sure it boots from cd, when you get to choose what drive to install on then just choose your newly created partiton and just install as normal.

I recently have done this and works great
