What way are you burning them to disk??.. are you just putting them onto the disk as a data file like a backup or are you running them through a converter
Like steppenwolf said only some DVD players can read data files from a CD or thumbdrive.. but since you say some play and some dont then its probably the case that your movies are different formats.. divx, mpg, avi... chances are if it plays data files then it supports divxComment

Could also be a region issue.
Pal dvd players wont play NTSC discs. You can make players region free by accessing menu's.
My money is on that you are trying to play DIVX thro a standard DVD player. Try running the videos thro convertx to dvd before burning themsigpic

the best and easiest way to do it (in my opinion)- download a program called convertxdvd (its not free but must be the most pirated software about)
- download film (unzip it if its a rar file)
- open convertxdvd, drag and drop your file onto it
- hit convert and put a dvd in drive
- sit back and wait about an hour 9depending on file size)
- you should have a dvd which should work in any dvd player

You have to burn a dvd not as a "data dvd" but a "video dvd". Simple as that
