Cant open rar files ????

    Cant open rar files ????

    Just reformatted pc, now cant open rar / zip files.
    I tried downloading WINZIP, but it downloads as a .rar file & I cant open it. Tried downloading WINRAR, that also downloads as a .rar file.

    any help please.

      Right click the file and choose "open with" then "Choose default programme" and browse for winzip

              Windows generically opens ".zip" files I don't know if windows will open .rar files but in any case try to download either program as a self extracting archive - the installer should decompress and install when clicked.

                          There is a WINRAR download that's an exe file - double click and it installs. Shouldn't be a problem to find it on the net.

                              Google for 7zip. Very small windows program, download and install. Now right click on any .rar .zip files and go to 7zip and choose to extract the files somewhere you will find them again on your HD.

                                  7zip is good alternative to winrar. The winrar is shareware but you dont really have to register, it just nags you each time you reuse it.

                                              assuming you have a pc and not a mac

                                              download winrar (if thats what you want) and leave it sit
                                              next download/install 7zip
                                              use 7zip to open winrar installer
                                              install winrar
                                              done
                                              Dance _ while the record spins
