laptop problem.

got laptop toshiba sa 50-114, optical drive not working(mashita uj-820s) fw 1.00. was ok initially but now seems to have given up the ghost. was given another by a friend uj-820b fw1.50 but when i install, windows cannot recognise it ie nothing showing in device manager or my computer, i was assured that this one is ok but i will not know untill i find a way for windows to recognise drive do u think its a firmware issue.any help would be appreciated.

alright mate ... easy one this one ...
if ur using windz XP u just need to edit the registry follow this mate ....
Start --- Run --- type '' Regedit''
then ...
go to = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class
and find ... {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
and delet all Value Data ( Only data values ok )
exit ... then rebot

thanks for your quick reply, i dont know if this will work, because when i put my old unit back in lappy windows recognises this one.
