sound problems on laptop

hi i was wonderin if any one can help....no sound on the advent laptop so i checked driver s and found vinyl deckcodec was nt workin so went to advent website and downloaded it ,,,,seemed to work restored sound on start up but the problem is now when i turn the lappie off and then when i return it ,,the sound doesnt cum on and i have to install the vinyl deck codec again ,,,,,,how do i make the vinyl deck codec stay on ??? or any other suggestions ...the lappie has k lite codec also installed ...wondered if any other codec is needed >???? many thanks in advance

sorry ...it s on x p home edition and the model is advent7065 model mid2030 notebook pc......will try n see if i can enable the codec on start menu...,,,,updated,,,,,,.right have looked on start up menu and audio deck is already enabled...turn on at start up but altho it says it s enabled when i ve cum back to lappie..turned off n restarted later it s not workin on tune up utilities it says vinyl ac 97 codec combo driver (wdm) device is not workin ,,,,as i ve said downloaded it again and reinstalled it ...it works then when the lappie is turned off then restarted it doesnt work...wonder if any one can help????? any suggestions welcome????

hi i ve also tried to update the driver thro the wizard it finds a update but fails to update,,,,says device cannot start (code 10) so tried trouble shootin suggestion uninstalled then reinstalled...says problem occured when installin device might not work properly......looked in device manager and vinyl codec has a yellow exclaimation mark next to it and theres still no sound ...any help welcome many thanks in advance

some drivers you download install themselfs,but some like yours you have to find and install it yerself. in device manager where the yellow mark is right click it and update driver,dont use have disk,but use option of i know where driver is,should get a list up for you to choose from. hope this makes sense good luck

cheers...i tried that and downloaded suggested update but did not work ...... so i ve gooogled ..;lastest update for vinyl codec and downloaded wat i think is the lastest one ...tried it a cple of times and so far so goods ..seems to be workin hope so any way will have another look tomorrow.. !!! thanks for all the answers and help given

no it s gone off again ...seemed to work. rebooted a cple of times was ok. even left it over night and worked when started again in the mornin but a cple of hr s later ...failed to work..grrrrr....the lappy doesnt work unless plugged in so am assumin the battery is knackered i was just wonderin if this may have any thing to do with it ???? or if any one had any oth er suggestions ?? any help welcome?/
