    windows xp problem

    Hi,
on my ASUS K50ij when I bought it it was installed windows vista I downgrade it to XP (for that I had to install additional sata drivers) and it was working fine for few days, then it started to show BSOD, i reinstalled in win 7 it was working fine for about 2 months then i installed win xp again and a had the same problem and i have noticed that is much slower in xp then i win 7. Is there any other way to install win XP on the laptop?
    Thanks

Yes, sounds like a driver or hardware problem. To stop machine re starting so you can read the message.
          1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
          2. Go to Advanced
          3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
          4. Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"
Also to try and find cause of the problem, if you have more than one stick of memory, try removing one of them (one at a time) incase one is faulty. Do the same with your wireless card if it is easily accessible on your notebook and see if fault is removed.

The Problem is only under windows XP(so I don't think it's harwere problem) now I have windows 7 installed and it works fine but I need win XP becouse the programs I use are not compatible with 7. If I disable automatic restart is there any chance to harm the laptop?

It's compatability issue. In windows 7 you can right click on the program and choose to run in XP mode. Or it might be the issue with the SATA driver.
I have an acc. with driveragent.com it provides better diagnostics about whats going on with the pc than the manufacture site. You can get a free online scan if you like.

U can use XP mode for windows 7, its a virtual environment for win 7 where u can actually run your programs in xp without installing it. U can download it from microsoft

No it wont harm your PC at all bud. So if above suggestions are not what you are looking for you can at least read the BSOD message. It will just stop and display the fault message until you resatart it.Good Luck.
