Is there a way to clone an existing pc to vmware without installing the migration assistant on the pc you wish to migrate to vm, i.e can you not connect to the pc via ethernet or usb and take a copy for vmware? is there a way to do this, does anyone know, oh and I dont want to open up the existing pc and remove the hdd?????????????

I don't think that there is other way to do that. Maybe you can do a HDD clone but in this way you would need a external HDD and usb...
