    windows xp

    my son has been away , so his computor has stood idle.
    when starting up now he his faced with entering a password.
    since it wasn,t set up a password we cant get in. i followed advise given already to another member ie laptop, but this wont work. we tried to reinstall xp but windows refuse to accept number has it has been used to many times. helppppp:

      Boot into safe mode and click administrator you should be able to reset password on all user accounts

        i use this Creat a bootable USB Ophcrack in Windows | USB Pen Drive Linux

        load it on2 a usb, insert in pc, switch on, select 2 boot from usb, wait, passwords are diplayed in 30 seconds, switch off, remove usb JOB DONE

        works for xp,vista & 7

          evidently he got past the passwords but is refused entry from windows

                If you can boot from a cd or usb drive, you can use a hiren boot cd or a similar prodcut to just remove the administrator password and just login.

                  Don't panic, is deadly easy to sort that out...
                  Like has been said here already, you can try:
                  When booting press F8 and start xp in safety mode, then log in in the administrator acount, go to painel control and users and reset the password from the acount you want.
                  If the acount in use is already, the administrator one, you wont be able to do this, however you can sort out in another way...
                  You can like z786 said use opcrack, personally i had a few intances where opcrak was not able to retrieve the password, and i found this one which i found more reliable...

                  Just burn the image into a cd and boot from...
                  Folow the steps, at the step where he will ask you if you want change password or reset/clear, choose reset/clear, works better...
