hi cant get my pc to restore to another point just keep saying computer cant restore to this point same message what ever date i try any help please thanks mial

Hi mate, just a quick one I find ms restore a complete fail in terms of fixing problems. It really acts more like an air freshner rather than removing the source of the bad smell. The best advice I can give you would be to not use the restore service but to backup your files to another disk (either int or ext hd or cd/dvd rom depending on your setup and files) and then you can format your system and start with a fresh installation (always the best solution to most windows problems) then you can be happy knowing that your files are safey backed up and you have a faster more reliable image to boot everything else from.

points to note though:

make sure you have 'Everything' backed up email addresses, favourites, autocomplete forms etc.

make sure you are able to select the correct boot sequence via your bios (passwords, optical drives functioning etc)

make sure you have all the drivers you need or are able to access the internet to obtain them (everest ultimate will tell you the hardware models if u dont know)

Finallly ~

the main question I should have perhaps asked first is why do you want to restore in the first place?

Other than that check your system date and time ~ unbelievable how many issues the wrong date and time can cause your MS Windows machine.

if you really want to use the restore and nothing else try reinstalling this file:

Find your Windows Inf folder. (show hidden files and folders)

Locate and select the file "sr.inf". Right-click it and then click Install.
