    Virus Wiped out Slave Disk?

Just wondering if anyone has come across a case where a virus
has wiped out a Slave Disk - or probably better described as
a virus preventing access to a slave disk?

    The symptoms:
Attached images show: 'My computer', The slave disk is
labelled as D: It doesn't show memory capacity.
When you right click and attempt to view contents, a message
appears stating that the disk is not formatted.
When I view in 'Disk Management' the slave disk appears as
    healthy.
However, I can't access the contents.

    The computer:
This is an old computer which I run in isolation (i.e not
connected to internet) to test downloaded applications.
There is no anti-virus software installed.
It is set up with a primary system disk, and a slave disk.
On the slave disk I just store programs.

Doubts about Virus or some other problems.
I was in the middle of testing my friends computer with
known corrupted disk. When I removed the IDE cable from
my own system to install my friends disk as a slave,
the IDE cable snapped off. (Not surprising really, as I've
done this often - and the cable was obviously weakened).
Not really thinking I took the IDE cable off my friends
system, and put on my own.

My friends system disk, installed as slave gave the same
symptoms as above. Later I thought 'faulty IDE cable', and changed
it to another one, whereupon I later did manage to access
my friends disk as slave, all be it with a lot of
disk errors. I've since, reformatted that disk, and can
access it okay as a slave.

My own slave is still faulty as described above, so I'm wondering,
if fault is due to a virus OR it's been damaged in some way due
to a suspected faulty IDE cable. My theory on the virus, is
that I'd just installed a program prior to all this fiasco.

I'm lucky, as none of the data stored on my slave
disk is valuable, I'm confident that 99% is backed up elsewhere.

So the option exists to format it again, but thought just
before I do, to investigate methods to try and recover data
or try to get it working again.. and suggestions greatly
    appreciated.

    doubt its a virus,
if there is anything worth recovering from your hd, then try accessing from other pc

Good point, I've got another old system where I'll install
the disk as a slave - and see if it accessible.
At least I'll be able to rule out any problems with the PC.

I'll do this tomorrow and report back
      Cheers.

This ain't a virus, try to recover your partition or MBR (use google on how to do that)

don't mess arround to much and don't format your disk unless you want to lose all data!

The best thing you can do is first recover data (with Active@ File Recovery) and then try to recover the partition.

If the latter fails, at least you have your data!
