    microsoft exel

i use microsoft exel spreadsheets for loads of different things on my laptop.
I save the exel files into "my documents" and have a shortcut on my desktop to "my documents".
Normally to open these files i just click on the my documents shortcut and then select a file by double clicking it. Normally microsoft exel will start up and display the contents of that file.
Suddenly without any explanation when i now double click the file from within "my documents" the microsoft exel program starts ok but does not display the file contents on screen, in fact the screen is blank and goes grey.
if i click the file icon in the top left corner from within exel and then point it to "my documents" and the file i want, it then loads up no problem.
So whats happened and why can i no longer open the file with a double click from inside "my documents" anymore.

Make sure you are using genuine software as sometimes they go down this way, if yuo have original disc reinstall it but make sure you back up everything first.

highlight the file in documemt folder right click then use opens with in the box that appears then reassociate which programme you want to use to open it.

                Hi

You can open exel and select help, then go to detect and repair, exel will repair it self with out the need for reinstallation of office or the need of the cd

Let me know if this was usefull

                  In MS Excel 2007 :
                  1) Go to Excel Options (Click on "Office Button" in Excel Tool bar")

                  2) Go to Advanced
                  3) In "Advanced" go to General Section
                  4) In "General Section" uncheck " Ignore Other Applications That Use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)"
