before i start, please dont laugh at me. my dads pc has got a knackered hard drive and my laptop has a knackered screen. if i was to put the laptop hard drive into the pc is it just a case of 'plug and play'. i know i will need an adaptor but would i need to do anything once i have swapped hard drives?

you could put a laptop 2.5" HD into a PC which normally has a 3.5" HD if its like for like that is if they are of the same type either SATA or IDE.
But yes you will need an adapter and someway of mounting the drive in the pc because of the size difference.
And no it will not be plug a play because the hardware/chipset setup will be different, so you will really need to do a complete new install of the operating system onto the PC -
when you say knackered hd, is it faulty or just corrupt?before i start, please dont laugh at me. my dads pc has got a knackered hard drive and my laptop has a knackered screen. if i was to put the laptop hard drive into the pc is it just a case of 'plug and play'. i know i will need an adaptor but would i need to do anything once i have swapped hard drives?
