External HD error

I formatted my iomega 1tb drive to fat32 and put loads of films on it and my dvd surround player brought them all up and i could choose fine.
Next i wanted to put wii isos on it also, then realised i needed to partition it so after formatting my hd with partitions i now have 1 fat 32 (films, photos) and 1 wbfs for wii isos which my wii reads fine however my dvd surround no longer sees my HD, I keep getting Disk error message.
Its plugged through USB it worked that way before i partitioned my HD
Any ideas?

Which tool have you used to make this split?
Try to make fat32 physically as the first partition.

hello,
if I manage to format the drive to NTFS, from what I remember the FAT does not support large files (7GB image of the game) in my case I had to do it (originally Samsung 640GB FAT)

yeah you need the ntfs filesystem on it dude


fat 16 = Windows95, DOS
fat 32 = Windows 98, Windows ME

ntfs = Windows 2000, Windows XP , Vista , Win7

Better be carefull with that; Appliances that do not run windows (like mediacenter, hd recorder, .... ) mostly do not recognize ntfs cause it's propriatary MS. In that case you are stuck with FAT32 and the 4Gb limit ...

try to make first partition primary active fat32 and second for wii but take care its possible the management of wii to change the structure of hdd and after you conect to the wii and the dvd will get error

What is the model of your DVD Surround player ?
You first must make sure that the equipment allows use of several external HD's ...
Each partition is treated as an independent storage device, I believe the problem is there ..

Hi, try "activate" the fat32 partition. This can be done in Windows.

1. In the Navigation pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.
2. Right-click the primary partition that you want to make active, and then click Mark Partition as Active.

Do this in your USB Storage device...
I think you can try it as a test...

From what I've been searching really your equipment will not accept an external USB HD with two partitions. But I guess you could try with two FAT32 partitions to make sure. The other alternative is to use only FAT32 hard drive, although there are restrictions on the maximum file size to be stored.

hi,to your Wii games you can use the first partition to store with wbfs manager that will work, for the second partition
for your DVD movies on your I do not think that it can detect all times but is trying, so when you partition a hard drive for Wii games this is the first partition the Wii recognizes future post in the section Nintendo Wii
