Windows 2000 Dell Software

Does anyone on here know how to make a windows 2000 disc made for dell computers work on other computers? If I can't get it to work I need to get rid of it. I got burned on Ebay. I thought I was buying the normal version.

What is it doing or not doing?

Is it just an image of windows installed onto a Dell, or does it start to install then fail?

Since you bought it on ebay i presume that is genuine one, if i were you i would install cracked version but hey that's me, i mean you allready paid. i had similar situation with win xp install disc for dell and on dell pc works without any activation or asking for serial number but on other brands it asks for activation and ser. number which is only for dell and you are stuck. Of course you can always crack it

I'm not sure what you can do to that one, but you may be able to download a generic OEM Windows 2000 iso and use your serial number from the ebay purchase. This method still gives you a legal installation.

just make the 4 boot disks for win2000 and start it from them !!! it works with the Windows 2000 fsc version

you can find the bootdisk maker on the CD

Floppy Drive

i have like 3 software keys. I am running linux on my 2 laptops i need to convert and when i boot it with windows in the drive it wont read it and goes straight to linux. what is a quick way to clean the cd lense? also how can i format the drive with linux on it? do i need a boot disc? I used to have one on 3.5 floppy but that was back when i was running 3.1 and actually paid attention.

You need to change the boot sequence in the bios. Make sure the CD/DVD is 1st boot device.

Not sure if you have to press DEL, F2 or F8 after the post screen before linux boots.
