If you didn't get a disk with the computer you need to open the side & get the motherboard model number.

i.e. Asus P5SD2-VM were would i be able to locate the number on the motherboard once i have opened the case i got a small black dell pc .

The board model should be printed on the board itself. On the Asus boards it's usually somewhere between the processor & USB connectors. Never looked at a Dell system so may be different with them.
Once you have the model you can download the full driver list without worry of getting the wrong ones.

In device manager, select the network adapter with the yellow mark against it.

Right-click > Properties...

Click the "details" tab & post the VENxxxx & IDxxxx numbers here.
e.g. PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1677&SUBSYS_01821028&REV_01\4&295 9CBDC&0&00E0

= VEN 14E4 , DEV 1677

From that, I can easily ID the drivers required.

what make and model number is the pc? (ie. dell Inspiron 570) it usualy says somewhere on the tower.
