    Lappy no power

my samsung lappy, 2 year old, has refused to turn on.
    It's a NP-P400.
there are no lights on the front panel when plugged into the mains, battery is showing 80% full, but will not go to 100% even with a full charge.
If I leave the battery out overnight, and just plug mains power in, I get a light on the front panel. It still wont fire up at that tho.
When I put the battery in, the green light slowly dims to nothing.

I have been in touch with Samsung, and I have to take it into a carry in service centre in Brum, 70 mile away, so in effect 280 miles of driving.
I wonder if anyone has any ideas, or if I should take it to a closer repair centre to me, albeit not Samsung?
I have serious doubts about my local PC shop after they tried to charge me ?40 for a network connection problem, and then failed to fix.
I am Melton Mowbray, Nottingham and Leicester being my closest towns.
    Thanks
    Rob

Yeah motherboard broken, or could it be the screen???

Serious note, have you tried to reset the bios back to factory settings? Also what version of windows is running?

Doesnt cost anything for them to have a look mate. Just take it to someone local. And as for ?40 for network problem thats rediculous.

I had a laptop that didnt charge at all and all it needed was a replacement jack plug adapter for the charger. Cost ?2.50. But with you saying that its charging but not powering suggest to me maybe a small resistor blown thats stopping it from powering up. When you put the charger in it lights up then goes out so its losing the power somewhere.

can't get it to power on at all cunny, can't get it to bios m8. You being from Mancs, maybe you could hotwire it to start m8 .

Only jesting cunny. And cheers CG for answering, will maybe take it somewhere local first.
