    connecting pc to tv

i have connected my pc to tv using an hdmi lead.
i have done this because, i wish to use my pc on main tv now and again as i now have a wireless dektop.
    problem:
when moniter and tv are both connected, i get moniter working as normal, desktop background on tv.
if i disconnect moniter, all functions transfer to tv.
    my question is:
is there anyway i can control which moniter is active without pulling vga lead in and out?
    thanks in advance..

ps. i am using an acer aspire running windows vista...

i have a nvidia card in my pc with it comes a nvidia control panel witch allows me to set up multiple displays and lets me select witch displays to use.

Under "Display" there's an option called "Run multiple display wizard".

there should be a setting which allows you to clone your moniter desktop to your tv so both show the desktop if this is what you mean, i do this with my laptop if i connect it to a tv the only downside i find is the resolution on the laptop changes to the tv resolution but i think in the nvidia control panel you can change the individual resolutions for each moniter hope this is of some help.
