    acer aspire erecovery password

Hi all, I have an aspire 5315 laptop running vista, & I want to restore to factory settings, it's asking me for an erecovery password which I can't remember, does anyone know how I can get around this?
    Many thanks in advance

its the same password you use to log onto windows.
if you don't know it, then it's most likely not your laptop.
post a picture of your receipt and i will tell you how to get round it.

are you sure you setup a password? if not then I think the default password is 000000

Errr no its not. When you run the recovery for the 1st time it asks you to create a password. It can be anything you like. If you have run it and forgotten your password can't help. If you have never run it it will ask you to make 1, after making a password leaving blank would not run the recovery tool.

            Not helpful i know sorry.

I'm afraid you are wrong the password is the one you use for your user account,
if you don't have a password on your user account then leave it blank.
Reset to factory settings with vista [Solved]
I'm not the only one who says that......

I think manxspud is correct, your erecovery password has nothing to do with your user account password as user accounts are optional. From my experience of reinstalling acer erecovery partitions the default password tends to be 000000 unless it is set by the owner the first time erecovery is used

I had a family friend bring their acer round to me as they wanted to restore it to factory settings but it was asking for a password. The shop they bought it from put the password on e-recovery so you had to take it back to them .....sneaky devils..

Anyhow...got round it by using a linux disc.... cant remember exactly which one....basically you boot to the linux disc and in linux you can browse to the file which holds the password info...sounds hard work but took me a couple of minutes. I got the answer off google.

                    Hope this helps

It is easy to solve windows password problems if you have Windows Password Key.
