    packard bell easy note s4

looking for some advice, i have been given above note book.
the hard drive died and has been changed.... therefore the o/s is missing

on the bottom of notebook , there is a valid windows xp seriel number.
    q. what do i need to do to get the machine working again?
i have a system and driver disk.
but the hd is blank at the moment so o/p is missing.
can anyone give me a heads up on what is involved.. and how difficult it is to do....
    thanks in advance....

you just need a xp installation disk and change the boot options in the bios to boot from cd then just follow the on screen instuctios and put in the key when it asks, if you get the disc it should come with its own key.

if you can get a copy of xp installation disc and load the o/s
it might accept the key but i would have thought it would come with its own key.

I've sent you a pm with links to an untouched copy of xp home, (A direct image of my original oem disk)
it will accept any legit code you have as long as the code you have isn't for xp professional,
hope it helps you get it sorted.

The key on the bottom of the laptop will only work for that version of windows. So if its home - you will need a copy of home. The key wont go into a profesional version for example.

Depending on the disks, you could copy the files over an create a boot from the hdd. However i would personally, download a copy of XP home an use the key thats on the underneath of the laptop
