USB, Power surge!

Hey all,

Every time i try and put in a USB plug into the front of my pc it always says, power surge. Any suggestions?

Have you tried the device on and external self powered hub ?

Built in USB ports are normally 100 mA (milliamps), pulling power through the mobo from the power supply, which will power allmost all devices. But some devices need a little more power. Some boards can deliver up to 500 mA but are load balanced so with a few USb devices, you can pull to much power. External self powered hubs will deliver up to 500 mA and should power any device.
