Take off the side of your pc, check all expansion cards are firmly pushed into their slots.

one on motherboard sound like its fried. have a look on ebay and get a video card and plug it into one of the expansion slots.

            acer aspire t671
            1 PCI Express x16 slot
            1 PCI Express x1 slot
            2 PCI slots

Does your computer have both on-board video (on the motherboard) and a video card plugged in?

Sometimes if you have both, the motherboard one is disabled... But the other suggestion is correct. Purchase a cheap video card and use it to test.

It sound's like if the GPU chip is faulty or graphic card is not working when you said lines on the LCD. Some graphic cards needs to be powerd up with a plug from PSU similar to the plug is used for floppy disc.

                    1) Check your power cable plug Fuse!
                    2) check if there is any light on in side your PC case!
                    3) listen to the fan of your PSU (Power Supply Unit) in the back of the case if is turning!

If none of the above are working then try to replace the PSU by exactly the same one check the PSU Watt most of them are (500W). it's easy to get one for a couple pound.

So if PSU is replaced and PC is not working I am afraid that your motherboard is gone.
