Memory stick in a USB 2

    Hope someone can help.

My PC at home has 2 off USB slots and 6 off USB2 slots.

I have a Kingston memory stick, if i put it in any of the USB slots it finds the stick no problem but tells me it would be better to use the USB slots and highlights the 6 slots.
When I put the stick into any of the USB2 slots Windows tells me it cant find the drivers for the stick, got to be something silly but cant get it to work though, downloaded the drivers again, went into Disk Manager which does not show the memory stick.

Any advice would be much appreciated as it is bugging me.

    Cheers in advance

I had this happen on a mates pc a while back, I told windows to look in c:\windows and that sorted it, but found this other info on the web.......

First is to ensure that the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\USBSTOR start value is 3.

If you are an administrator on the machine, ensure C:\windows\system32\drivers have SYSTEM user access especially USBSTOR.SYS.

If you don't have usbstor.inf in that directory or anywhere in c:\windows, go download from the web.

Go to Device Manager an uninstall the " ? " which was a result of the failed driver installation.

Plug-in the device, then when asked where to search, point to c:\windows\system32\drivers
