there common for charger faults .. they have 3 connector in the plug into the lappy and the middle one charges the battery ,,

If your laptop runs fine plugged into AC without a battery, then most likely your battery is bad. Laptop batteries are designed to only last a few years at best. Check ebay, amazon, etc for a replacement.

The pin in the middle sends the charging instruction for the battery.I would test the charger before buying a new battery (which is what i did) and then still having to replace the charger. The centre wire can break or no longer make contact and the pwr supply will then not charge any battery.I have heard of people repairing the end of the cable but i got a replacement

Unplug mains cable and take out battery.

press the on/off button down and hold it for 20 seconds or so till lights flash.

let go, replace battery and cable,

start laptop and see if it charges.

If you have had a warning in the past on your task Manager letting you know about the battery need to be renewed then your battery is not holding any charge even if the icon shows "Plugged in and charging"
Try to use another charger and see what would happen.
