I don't think any PC is site specific, so it gotta be something else...like his lap where the PC rests, or.....

I'm having the same problem ... It's overheating and therefore needs to be cleaned... The vents and stuff since dust can gather. I'm sending mine to the shop in a few days to clean it.

Hopefully the problem clears up, because it randomly shuts down when it gets too hot and I cant play games because of it.

first thing i would check would be the fan vents, mine were totally blocked and laptop kept shutting down(dell). quick clean and it was right as rain.

This is a common problem with most laptops it can be fixed with little modification to GPU that can over heat and cut off can also cause some mal function if laptop is used for long period of time. I have fixed many laptops with this problem successfully.

To fix it your self is not a science rocket as long as you know what you are doing. Please read the following note.

Note: I cannot be held responsible for any damages you might do to your laptop. While this fix is relatively simple to do, there is risk associated with doing this. Always make sure you are grounded or touch something metal that is to discharge any static build-up. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about please Google it up.

All you need for this job.
            1) Thermal compound. I recommend (Arctic Silver 5) ?4.99
            2) Shim copper size (2mm x 2mm x1mm thick) you can buy them from ebay ready cut to use. I do cut mine myself to the required size I need because I use them for PCs too.
Disassemble your heat sink and clean the fan from any dust and dirt that was accumulated throughout the time. Clean the CPU and GPU with thermal compound remover buy using Eire cotton buds till you see both of them shining like a mirror, and also clean the bridge from old thermal compound with the solution compound remover.
Make sure they are all clean with dry surfaces.
Apply very thin amount of thermal compound Arctic Silver to the surface of CPU and GPU. Add copper shim on top of GPU and no harm done if you want to add one on top of CPU, now make sure the thermal compound is added to the top of copper shim before you assemble the heat sink.

Copper shim does absorb the heat and is the only solution to overheated CPUs and GPUs.

I hope this will help you and other DK Members.
