There are two wifi driver depending on what chip is installed in your laptop.

I take it its windows7 operating system

Go here 1st and find wifi drivers

as there is no winxp wifi driver listed on Toshiba site

the driver should be picked up for this automatically in win xp. Is this a new laptop? silly question have you enabled the wifi? Is there an error showing up in the device manager?

Not always. If there is no internet access on the machine then how is it going to find the driver?

You could have just gone in by an ethernet cable direct to a modem/router and updated the driver, XP driver update aint to clever.

The thread posted should tell you all you need to know. But if not, then go direct to the support pages for your laptop from toshiba

yes this is true but the wifi should install automatically from the windows drivers. Or you should be able to reinstall it from the driver disk which came with the laptop.
You did not say whether you have had this model from new?

There have also been problems with the wifi on this model when people have downgraded from windows 7 to win xp.

perhaps you can give us all some more information.

Have you had the laptop from new and do you have the disks?
Have you downgraded from win7 to XP?
