though hp has a problem with VGA chip still one of the best laptops in the market, do you know why? because it is repairable.

Oh yes it can be repaired by you self. look just take time and gather the tools you require to fix your hp mainly

      1 small star screw driver
      1 tooth brush
      1 x 2grm of thermal compound
1 hairdryer to blow dust and rubbish from the fan vents
      1 gas torch ?3.50

when you using the gas torch keep going in full circle left right and vice versa 15 times = 15 sconds

Finally watch the video about 6 to 7 times and believe me you can do it.

I have done it with torch many many times before I bought
IRDA Infrared BGA SMD Soldering Rework Station, because I needed it also for PS and Xbox 360 game consoles.

nah i dont think so, mate i d struggle to take it apart never mind reseat chip.then put bac together ..knowin me i d break something just tryin to get at the mother board.. ... but i m also wonderin if it is this... cos mines a lil different .... it actually tries to start then switches itself off then repeatingly automatically tries to start up again .....but when i press down on esc and cltr during start .... it starts up ok ??? i mean it cud possibly due to damage due to overheating but i m wonderin if maybe its something else??

          Hi All,
just like Salami wrote, yours motherboard died, mainly there is three types of that board without graphics mcp chip, gf7600 and gf8600 - 256 or 512 dedicated memory. Home methods like gas torch are not long lasting fix. it might work for moth or two, best solution is remove old chip and place new one, or reball old one. There is no other way to get it working.
          Regards

Good thread bigfella, I remember reading it a while ago. Interested because my laptop did some strange things. It is working in a fashion now, but a bit shit.
Mine runs hot too, wondering if it is the processor prob or graphics chip, and I too am thinking about vacuuming it out like you did.
Keep us posted on if it ~~~~s up again mate.

Using a van cleaner will cause more harm than good, by creating static, use a can of compressed air, ?3 from asda m8
