cmos checksum error

    cmos checksum error

    changed batt , updated bios,stripped comp down to bare bones,loaded fail safe and default settings in bios still will not post but will if i remove batt does this every time if i turn off power and prees power button for 20 seconds then turn on power at back of tower then press front button and will then post this is an old com puter do you think mother board fried ie corrupt cmos chip.(gigabyte 7vt 600-rz) award bios flashed with latest update i know this is a common problem but at the moment its baffling me.

    Updating Bios in some old computers will either work or not.
    I think is Bios compatibility issue M8. I hope I am wrong.

      thanks for your reply salami, but bios flash was my last resort i was having these problems before i flashed bios (cmos/battery aint holding any memory)the only thing i can add is bios shows updated flash f5 but with the old firmware date.and windows shows the old firmware f2.as i said in my last post will only post if i completely remove battery! then can get into windows by pressing f1.
