Laptop - blank on screen all of a sudden!?!

    Hi I have a NX 9030 laptop.

It doesnt start on anymore. I checked the hardrive / ram on another laptop and does work. I tried the Laptop with an external monitor and it doesnt even show on there. So the screen isn't the problem.

The laptop only powers up and has nothing on screen. I'm assuming it may be a power problem or the graphics card has possibly gone on it? I'm not to sure.

has anybody had similar problem? or does anybody know what it possibly be?

    Thanks for any information.

If laptop powers up lights are on nothing happen then is your graphic card require Re-balling M8.

You dont need to replac emate, you need to reflow the solder around it , reballing means that you heat it up so that all the solder has no breaks in it if you know what I mean. this can be done by

        1. rapping the laptop in a blanket and leaving switched on till it heats up and hopefully sorts yr problem. (may or not work and the whole laptop heats which isn't good for the laptop.) not really wise but it sometimes cures it.

2: use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat just around the chip and solder using tinfoil as a shield on surrounding areas, Better idea but again don't always work

3 best idea remove chip and all solder and clean area. then put graphics chip back with new solder. (best way but quite difficult if don't solder)

all 3 carry risks of not working and frying your motherboard.

My opinion 1st I would check and see if its a ribbon cable connecting the screen to motherboard which sometimes work loose.

Personally i wouldn't attempt above until a last resort.

Most laptops dont work straight away on external monitor you usually need to press the FN button along with the appropriate F button. On mine its FN + F10 together.
You'll see a wee square monitor type sign on the f button.

Think it FN F4 on hp's

thanks for that. You know I did do that towel, heat method last year when I experienced the fault and it did used to work. And al;l of a sudden that stopped working. I di that method because that used to happen to my XBOX.

I'm just hoping I can open the laptop to try the reballing method. I can open the full laptop, up to taking the keyboard out. But I dont know how to get into the under the metal bit under keyboard where all the chips are. :s

I just checked on youtube how to open it. It says put a copper sheet on it.

Which is better: pre sensisted copper clad boar or just standard copper board from maplin as so:
                copper : Maplin Electronics

I would say standard mate???, but I'd ask some of the electronic experts 1st before you buy.
