Hi guys, I bought a 32gb memory stick online. It seemed to work ok for documents, music and photos but through my media player or laptop I could not playback any movies from it even though the movies seemed to transfer ok. Now transfering files is a problem "write protected" pops up when I drag and drop files into it. Any ideas as to remove this "write protection " from my memory stick. I can't remember doing anything for this to have changed. Thanks in advance.

ok few things, firstly i know it sounds dumb but you never know, have you checked for a switch on the device that locks the card, have you formatted the card?, and will it allow you to format it? if it wont try this little file it should remove the write protect

There's a virus that displays this message when writing. Does formatting fails too? try a force format using command prompt.
does it give an error related to CSRSS.EXE ?Comment

Hi Guys, A Happy New Year to you all. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, busy with Christmas and all at this time of year. Hi Mjolinor, I did buy this online and it was cheap as you say but my properties stiil show that it is 32gb with 31.7gb free space if this means anything. Hi Aragorn911, formatting does not work as the message I get is that I don't have "sufficent rights". Can you tell me how I force format using command prompt. I'm unsure of this. Hi albertros, I just downloaded your file and I will try it tomorrow when I get home after work to night. Kind regards to you all for your help with this problem. Thanks.Comment

Hi guys, I tried those programmes but none of them worked. I can't seem to get past the write protection on the flash drive. Looks like my best bet is to purchase a new one. Thanks for all your help.
P.S. My desktop settings seem to have changed because of the flash drive. When I try to open my main C drive I have to use the explore option to access my folder. Can any help as to revert this back to double clicking my drive to gain access. Thanks.Comment

Evenin All !! Do you have a make or manufacturer of the stick, companies such as TDK put some software on their 8G which is a locking and password yours might have had such software. also have you tried the stick on another computer it could be your driver.
thought for the day !! look good, feel good, keep taking the pills .........Comment

Check with this program first to make sure its legit 32gb....
It is possible to reflash and repair counterfeit usb sticks i've done a few. Last one I did was from china supposed to be 32gb and was really only 4gb when repaired properly.
