    First i would open up the enclosure and check all the wires are still in place the noise you are getting could be a wire has come off and the drive is not getting enough power.

    If all internal wiring is ok you have a bigger problem as most hard drive repairs and information recover is expensive as it is a specialist process working in a dust free clean room.

    If you do attempt to dismantle and inspect your drive at home you will need to create a dust proof area most people would use a large size clear plastic bag and work within this to limit dust .But it wll still limited to what you can acheive .
    Good Luck

      If your drive is making a cyclic sound it's because it has a mechanical problem. So the only thing to do is send it to specialized lab that will be able to recover your data. Don't open it by yourself, i'll only make things worse.
      Here in France for this kind of problem you'll have to pay like 1000-1500 ***8364;

        i think, u have to forget this drive, u can't recover a harddisk with a mechanic problem, and the specialized lab are very expensive

          have you try to disconnect the hardisk and plug the enclosure to PC without hardisk?

          if the USB module cannot detect by PC then replace the enclosure. or try to change the crystal of enclosure. I have this kind of problem before. if the problem is realy in hardisk, maybe the heads was damage and it cannot read the data

          in my area there are so many shop that recover the data for this kind of problem in a cheap price ( 350 pesos/ 7.29usd)
          not all 100% of data can be recovered but almost 90%

              I agree with this If the drive is making a clicking noise then it has the "click of death" google for more info on that! The drive has a mechanical failure It has been done a few time freezing the drive might enable you to quickly pull the data off the drive. Either way the drive is dustbin job wether you get the data off or not The only way to recover the data other than above is the photograpy the disk service very very expensive ;-(

                if your proficient with small screwdrivers and have another harddrive (same make model) I would be tempted to open up the broken one look for damage and see how the platters are held in place.... Suggesting this as a last ditch solution before throwing it in the bin or sending off to a data recovery place.

                        Just running it through a data recovery program might not be the answer, would depend on how damaged it is, clicking ect would indicate bearing/platter issues. If the surface of the disc is also knackered then its screwed.

                        Conect the drive to a pc without the enclosure (hopefully the enclosure would take the brunt of the impact)
                        If it still registers in windows you could be in luck. The run some recovery software, i used EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional v5 5 1 last time i had some recovery to do
