Spend an extra few quid on a decent one....I got a Netgear N600 dualband router on sale in pc world yesterday and getting 26mbps wireless from my 30meg BB.
Excellent piece of kit,as aftermath says check out that all lights are green and not orange or yellow...your isp might drop off at times in the evening so monitor the time when it acts up.also get you isp to ping your modem/router to see if its a prob on their side.

          Wireless Router

Hi Mial, I had the same problem with my D-Link wireless router. On occasions the internet becomes unavailable but works if you connect modem direct to PC so its not the modem.

Ive tried changing cables, setting static IP etc but no luck and then suddenly it will start to work again. It may work fine for maybe couple of weeks and then stop working again.

In my experience I have found routers to be temperamental and if you get 12 months out of one then your doing well.

Yours does not seem very old so I would take it back if you can't get it working. Have you tried the manufacturer's helpline which should be free during the warranty period. When I bought my first router a few years ago, I had to use the helpline as it was the only way I could get it working.

My router was cheap and personally I wouldn't buy an expensive one cause I don't think they would be much better.

          Anyone hope you get sorted.
