DVD drive won;t open

I've had this problem for some time. It seems after a while my DVD drives won't open.

They seem to be stuck when its trying to open. I have to use a needle to poke the release button to get it to open.

Anyone else has this issue?

Oh and btw i've 2 drives that have this issue. A sony and benq

how old are the drives?
but first
check the connections to the pc

IDE/Sata and Power cables
check if the cables are ok and in properly.
Also might want to check the jumpers
on the drives if you have any.

on the operating system
go to start right click
my computer
then click device manager
then
select your not working drives
then right click and unistall and restart your computer

when it reboots let it detect the new devices.

if there still not working maybe its possible they might need firmwares updating could you tell us the names of the drives.

open the case slacken screws witch hold cd roms push forward then re tighten screws
