home PC wont open SD cards

    Hello all

I am after some help please, i'm not a computer wizz but basic level fiddler!

I have an Acer PC which has a slot for SD cards, it always used to work when a card was put in it would open a window and you could access the data, but for some reason it now will not recognise SD cards, i have tried a number of cards all which work ok on my laptop, i have also tried two different SD to USB adapters, the computer goes "bee boo" and the light on the adapter comes on but no window opens up it also makes the computer go slow. if i copy the SD card data to a USB stick on my laptop and put the USB into the home PC the data works fine and the window opens ok.

with the SD inserted refreshing the view in the my computer section no additonal drives are found so i cant access the SD card at all on off my multi addpaters does show up in the my computer section but all the drives are empty (no data) even if the SD is inside with data on.

some help would be well recieved

    Thanks

    Ray

Are the Drivers installed correctly ? Most of the problems comes when the drivers are not correctly installed.

        Hi

I came across a similar problem with mine. Is the card labled as SD or SDHC.

The SDHC are the latest type of card and can't be read by the older type readers.

I havn't found out if a driver upgrade or a reader upgrade is required to solve this yet , I just put mine to one side to use/sort out at a later date.
