    Laptop Battery Help

I have been asked to get a battery for a Packard bell L4 series laptop the one in it is a
    SAY battery pack NI-MH
    Output 9.6V 4000mAH
    EUP-K2-B-40
There is a couple of second hand ones on fleabay but i need a new one
there is some on fleabay that say they are compatible with the L4 series laptop, but they are 14.8V not 9.6V and is a Li-ion (Lithium-Ion)
will it do any damage if i get one of these instead?

A simple answer would be yes.

But this would depend on the power regulator. It may work for a while, but I would expect it to pop a resistor due to the higher voltage.

I'm no expert on this so could be proved wrong by someone who knows their shit better than I do.
