hi chum, no didnt fix, fault is 1.internal clock setting. goes to boot setting tells L/T (error shut down.) or video card which is fixed to Motherboard. so replace Motherboard on both counts. I have a 9 month old laptop ln a bag not used for two years, plastic still on it. tryin to get a GOOD motherboard at the right price then ill fix it. but time moves on techno gets better and this poor laptop its gettin old in its short life so thats the story so far. dont know if it helped, advent 5612 motherboard are nortorous for this fault, watch out when buyin second hand, buyer beware.
      goodluck

If you have no joy as yet try searching for "reballing in a oven" on google

I fixed it using a heatgun but oven is just as good....

Im guessing you turn it on and a few light come on and you hear the fan - then turns itself off - in a continious loop?

            Hiya

Yeah I have done a few like this and always been lucky with a heat gun but its well easy to screw up yer chips

Oven is probably the best way as its more gentle to heat up and cool down but i was in a rush......

If its screwed you have nothing to loose eh. There are firms out there that will do it for you on a proper machiene but hey

what is the process,Temp/time and do you strip motherboard out of laptop or just put the lot in oven, i take it there isnt a problem with the screen.

How to Reflow a Laptop Motherboard in a Household Oven | Computer Repair Tips

looks like 200c for 8 mins is the way to go

you must strip it down to nothing on the board and just bake the board on its own
