    Non-working Touchpad on laptop

    Hi

My touchpad stopped working after my laptop was dropped on the floor. I have used system restore and tried updating the driver for it, but it is still not working.
When I touch the touchpad, the mouse pointer does not move and both right-click and left-click do not respond?

My laptop details can be found below. Any help would be appreciated.

    Laptop: Toshiba Satellite P200-12D
    System: Windows 7 ? 64bit
    Synaptics TouchPad v6.3 ? port PS/2.
Location: plugged into PS/2 mouse port
    Driver version: 13.2.1.0
    Driver Date: 12/06/2009

The device is enabled and working properly according to the device status of the device (properties).

It could be busted because of the drop, but just a chance that when dropped you disabled the pad.

Try holding down FN and F9 keys together for a few seconds. see if its disabled, if it is release the keys then hold them down again. page 6-3 in your manual.

No such luck. It's also my worry that it is busted, but I wanted to try everything, before paying a fortune to have it repaired.

You could download latest drivers from synaptics, install them and see if that makes a difference.

I tried updating the drivers, but there is still is no change.
I also tried opening up the laptop, and checking the wire for the touchpad, but there was nothing wrong with it. I plugged it out and in again, but still no change.
I guess now that the touchpad is not working due to physical hardware issues caused by the fall.

I will take it to a repair man. Thanks for the help guys
