Nokia Software Updater has never given me a problem!

I'll assume that you have no hardware issues... I'd guess that the USB cable came adrift during the flash procedure, the N73 uses the old CA53 cable and often the phone end is corroded or tarnished at least!

I assume you've tried to reset using the "three finger reset" which is to depress these three keys simultaneously "*" plus "3" plus "green phone" and then power on phone whilst keeping those same three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone? I've got a sneaky suspicion that this will not fix your problem!

In theory if you were using the Nokia Updater software and it's gone belly up you should be able to take it to you nearest Nokia Care Centre assuming you're in the UK...

Failing that, there really isn't much you can do without dedicated tools and software...

Take it to a dealer or Nokia Care as there is nothing that you can do once it has been killed. BB5 phones use all manner of digital certificate when flashing and without the appropriate hardware and software you stand no chance!

find a local unlock shop that uses a good box that supports TX2 line flashing failing that then could well be h/w
