Which Ebook Reader?

I am thinking of breaking with tradition and buying an E book reader.

Dont fancy Kindle as its to DRM for me, but was thinking of the Sony PRS-650.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Had a look at a few before I bought the missus a Kindle pal.

She loves it and it is good, just the feel of it is streets ahead, not to mention it being cheaper.

I use conversion software thats freely available to be able to access all formats.

I'm thinkin o buyin the wee woman an ebook for her bday, is it true you get free downloads with the kindle? Are all the book sites available for the one ebook? As for the conversion software you mentioned can you post me what is so that i can look it over. Sorry about the 20 questions but i no very little about ebooks.Anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your reply.
