1. Ensure you get the box, Manual, CD and original charger if you don't know the seller personally.
2. Find out why it is being sold and if the contract has expired or the user has simply upgraded.
3. Check to see if it's network locked, if it is check it will accept your SIM card.
4. Assuming the seller has simply upgraded, then you should simply be able to insert your SIM and use the handset but unless you take out a BlackBerry subscription some of the phones functions may be limited or not available *!! I think Vodafone and others should do pre-pay (PAYG) BlackBerry subscriptions on a month by month basis...
* I have a 9530 Storm and this has no browser available without a BB subscription, there are third party browsers but they are not up to much... -
Some info on using with prepay.
As far as I'm aware only Orange & T-mobile can offer Blackberry data services on a prepay tariff. This will cost ?5 per month
O2 will want to move you to a 30 day rolling contract. Last time I checked this cost ?17 per month with about 300mins, a few hundred texts & Blackberry data services.
Not sure if Voda can support Blackberry data services without a contract.
Without the Blackberry data services you will only be able to make/receive calls & basic text messages.
The internet, e-mail, Mulitmedia messaging & location based services will not work.
Opera web browser is usually installed on Blackberry devices & is the best one to use. If it's not installed you can download it.Canker

I'm pretty sure Vodafone do pre-pay BlackBerry accounts as they have the handsets in the pre-pay range!
Vodacom (Vodafone owned) do them on pre-pay here!!Comment

ive got one for sale if anybody is interested. its a bb bold 9700 locked to orange. its only 2 months old. cut a long story short, i kept getting dropped calls on previous blackberry's. orange previously kept replacing it witha refurbished unit, ive had about 8 in a 18 month period!!!!. finally complained big time and they sent out a brand new handset. the reason for the sale is that ive upgraded to samsung galaxy s 2 so the bb is no longer needed. got the box, instructions, charger and cable. if interested give me an offer.Comment
