Kindle eBook Reader supports 4 ebook formats ***8211; Kindle format .azw, Plain Text .txt, and unprotected MobiPocket i.e. .mobi and .prc. The Kindle also supports audible audio-book files .aa, and .mp3 files. It doesn't support PDF...

You can use Calibre to convert pdfs to supported formats and then upload to the Kindle: calibre - E-book management

It can struggle with images and foot notes though (e.g. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter)

If you mean the Kindle device, then it supports pdf files... I am not sure about the Kindle applications for PC, Android etc.

You can go to the torrent sites: Torrent list - Demonoid and dl loads of ebooks from there (mobi format). DRM removed

I use a free program called calibre which you can use to sync to your kindle. You can convert all ebook formats to the mobi format and read them on your kindle.

Thanks for the links guys, been looking for ages although millions of pdf files on fileshare sites particular books are hard to come by. it seems people who purchase the files from amazon dont wish to share them!!
