Blackberry Bold 9780 - SMS Language Support HELP

i was just wondering if anybody knew whether the UK version of Blackberry Bold 9780 supports both DISPLAYING and CREATING text messages in international languages for example chinese?

i remember with my older uk version phones like nokia, any international text message received would look like funny little symbols.

i am thinking of ordering one off amazon as their prices are quite good at the moment but i need it to support chinese language messaging as i travel there often and need to use the local language at times.

any help would be appreciated

The option is under SMS Data Coding.

Mine has three options ASCII, Latin and UCS2.

The latter, UCS2 is now called UTF-16 which is it's ISO/IEC name.

UCS-2 (2-byte Universal Character Set) or unicode is capable of encoding 1,112,064 characters!

This will work for receive characters only! If you need both send and receive, I would suggest that you find a knowledgeable dealer who is well versed at flashing these devices. I have done a few myself and it's not for the feint hearted!!
