The higher end android phones (HTC Desire S, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S2 and a few others) are on par if not better than the iPhone

I think the high end stuff is out of his reach.

Then again, if you're comparing to an Ishite you must have around ?150 to spend on a phone....

If it's just a bigger screen & internet that you want, try looking at the Nokia C5-03. Should be able to get one from around ?70 upwards.

Some of the new Nokias have a lot going for them. They may not be pushing the technological boundaries, but they work & have decent build quality.

There's also the Nokia X series of phones. A bit more technology in them compared to the C series.

Stay away from Sony Ericsson unless it's a high end phone. But even then I'd be cautious.

I agree with Canker, I would only add the E5 as it's a bit bigger screen-wise than the C5. The E5 also has a QWERTY keyboard... I've sold quite a few E5's and the only one that's given trouble is when the customers' dog ate the charger!!

Stay away from Sony Ericsson even if they are free!!

The Samsung Galaxy Ace & HTC's Wildfire range are good mid range Android phones.

HTC's have better build quality but Samsungs are easier to play with when it comes to the firmware.

Rolls Royce on the outside, garden shed build on the inside!

If you get a reliable one great! Sadly, Sony Ericsson is run by accountants who take brilliant designs and cost cut them into junk!

They are also notorious for software problems...

Look at what they did to Android on the Experia Mini.

Take an operating system with massive customizable potential & restrict it to 4 customizable buttons... Do you really want to trust the people who came up with that idea?

Go back 3 years & it wasn't so bad, once you got past the software problems. But they're now performing worse than Nokia was between the N95 & N8 period.
