    Personal Media/Video player?

    Hi folks,

I know the obvious answer to this question is probably...iPad!

But I'm reluctant to simply jump in and get one and follow the heard.

I'm looking for media/video player primarily for my little boy sitting in the car and going on holiday and generally to keep him amused while travelling. I want to be able to download stuff, as you do , and copy it to the device, basically I don't want to have to buy the media.

    Any ideas please?

tbh for a kid in the car i wouldnt go down the ipad route i would go down the route of anything that is playing with usb data sticks etc and just load it up with films and dump em from the dongle from your pc>bittorrent etc.

i would steer clear of the cheapy chinese epad as most are faulty so whats left price/battery/quality

look for something like an archos and run a cig lighter to it maybe..... i would stick with AVI format as its what is most common.....

Might be worth looking at the Archos 101 G9. I have the G8 and not had a problem with it so far. Archos have a history of multimedia devices. Not had a problem of installing and running anything so far.

I just used a portable DVD player & a second LCD display. Until I picked up a DVD head unit.

With a little electronic knowledge you could use a cyclone media player & a small LCD monitor. You will only need to reduce the 12v supply to match the needs of the media player. You could probably buy an adapter on ebay.
