    Going to Aus

    I'm off to visit my daughter in "Aus' " and I want to be able to use my mifi in and around Sidney. I'm buying a Telstra Data sim
    and I'm looking to see which device will give me best value.
    I've been given an old huawei E5830 (Unlocked) that should be adequate for my requirements. . . . . . . . . .
    Or does anyone know better???

      The E5830 offers 3G/HSPA on the 2100MHz band only!

      Telstra operate on 850MHz primarily but do operate on 2100MHz in large cities ONLY!

      I have attached a map showing Telstra's claimed 3G/HSPA 2100MHz coverage in the Sydney area. Anything outside of the golden shaded area would be a no-go for your E5830. You would still get a service but only EDGE (i.e. 2.5G) at best!
