    galaxy note stuck gingerbread

got new galaxy note.. it let me do upgrade which i assume would put me on ICS but only put me up to latest version of gingerbread. i connect to kies (fake itunes imho) it offers me update and when it gets to 100% it kies shuts down, no error or f.all. and nothing has upgraded or happend to phone.

is there something im doing wrong, or is my new gnote, on my vodaphone package not let me? 4 some reason?

any ideas and thanks as always.

Check to see if kies is up to date, try uninstalling completely & reinstalling, make sure drivers are all correctly installed. If all fails I would try updating on another computer.

Edit: have you tried an ota update on the phone itself?

I take it we're talking about the original Galaxy Note & not the Note II.

Forget about Kies, it's a pile of w@nk.

Try reading the guide & download link from here. But this is for the N7000 model only.

If you have a different model Note, try Sammobile.com

Odin is a better, more stable, way to flash.

Got to agree with Canker on this one, Kies is at best crap!

FOTA (firmware over the air) is a better option if you have access to wi-fi or an unlimited data plan.

If the phone has at any time been upgraded by any other route than Kies, then Kies will always refuse to upgrade the device!

All your firmware, guide, Odin can be found at sammobile.com but after flashing you may find you don't get fota (firmware over the air) anymore but no big issue it just means you have to manually update via odin.

Any problems or unsure of files post the exact model and I'll put the links up for you
