Question On Virgin Landline Phones ?

Hi, I have just got a landline phone contract with virgin media here in Ireland, i was using my own phone on the line that is new , one week old, its a BT 3510 model, it was working fine on the line, but now there no sound on it, I got in contact with virgin, and they told me that its would work fine for a week and then be knocked off, and that i must use a phone that comes form them ? a semans model, is this true or can i use any model of phone ? as they want to sell me one , thanks for your help , ranger..

As far as i know you can use any phone. Left VM while ago but using bt mobel phone at that time .
