tomtom on compasseo 500

Having trolled through countless threads ref putting tomtom on unlocked pb compasseo 500, I am now so confused feel like chucking the thing. Lots of 'good' looking links lead to sites requireing subscription !!!!

I have windows vista pc, copy of ttone sd card on cd( original sd card wont load ) and enough enthusiasm for one more try. Must have spent 100 hrs at it !

If anyone has a foolproof method with instructions please post.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction. Got mobilenav + tomtom folder but when I click tomtom.exe on pda it says i'm missing ieexplore ? At a dead end.
