nokia symbian s60 o/s

does anyone know if the symbian operating system can be downloaded and re-installed to a nokia phone? as i seem to have managed to erase mine laughable but true it's the S60 5th edition version 9.4 i need. have tried nokia but only seem to find updates & not the full o/s to install.
I don't really want to send it back to nokia for re-programming so any help will be appreciated thanks.

Not sure how you managed to do it !! LOL. What handset is it ?

Try holding down and keep held down the *,3 and green call key whilst you turn it on. Keep those keys pressed until hopefully it boots up. This forces a system re-format so should hopefully help you

hi thanks for that it works woo hoo not sure i pressed the buttons you mentioned though as i got a bit frustrated with it
the phone is a nokia n97 although it's a copy i got while abroard "china actually very cheap" been talking to people i got it from for settings to use it in the uk.
